Regulation

  1. The 9 th Shortmoves Festival is taking place on the 18th  and 19th of September in Halle/Saale.
  2. The art director of the festival is René Langner. It is being organized by The “HIM” association.
  3. Only movies and video productions with a maximum length of 15 minutes are allowed to take part in the competition. You can hand in all film styles and themes: story, documentation, fiction, animation, music or experimental- in principle, there are no limitations set on land of origin, genre or content.
  4. Your preview-copy should have one of the following formats: MiniDV, DVD or as an MPEG-file in good quality. For the competition screening we need to have a copy in one of these formats: MiniDV, AVI, DVD or 35mm.
  5. All films in a language other than German or English must be subtitled at least in English.
  6. The art director René Langner cooperates with students and media scientists of the Martin-Luther-University to select the films which will be shown in the competition.
  7. There are two prizes to win: one is awarded by the audience and one by the jury.
  8. For successful application we will ask you to print the application form, sign it and send it to the Festival Organization along with: your screener copy, photos of the scenes, press releases (if any) and return postage.
  9. Your preview-copy and your application should be sent to: Shortmoves 2009 HIM – Hallisches Institut für Medien e.V. Mansfelder Str. 56 06108 Halle. Germany. The closing date to hand in your movies was the 18th of June.
  10. You are responsible for paying the film transport to the Festival. All materials sent without full postage paid will be rejected. The films will only be returned to you if requested clearly and all pre-paid postage and return packaging is supplied by the entrant. A pro forma invoice amounting to a maximum of 5 Euros should be attached to all non-EU film shipments. All packages should be provided with the following sentence: “For cultural purposes only – no commercial value”.
  11. The submitted movies will not be returned and will integrate into the Shortmoves archives. They will only be returned to the sender if clearly requested. Refer to point 10.
  12. You are welcome to attend the Shortmoves Festival, but being there in person is not essential. We would be pleased to assist you to find accomodation within the area, however you are required to cover the cost of your stay.
  13. Legal recourse is precluded
  14. The organizer is authorized to use the screened movies of the festival to arrange a “Best of 2009” DVD. The production of the DVDs will be limited to a maximum of 150. They will be used for the festivals public relation purposes only and not for commercial use.
  15. The submission of your movie or video represents an agreement with our regulations set within this document.
  16. In the event of any doubt the binding version shall be the German version of the Regulations.
